I am Lorriane's daughter, Jennifer Reynolds, and Grandma taught me so much! I am definitely a better mother because of Grandma's counsel and her teaching me to enjoy every minute with my children. Here are some of my fond memories of Grandma:

  • Grandma helping me make soup for the family and adding her "secret spices" to make the pot more tasty.
  • Hand-picking out seeds out of grapes to make grape jelly while Grandma was singing and being silly.
  • Processing tomatoes with Grandma for the freezer.
  • Exchanging recipes with Grandma and her sharing her favorite recipes from two Canadian Cookbooks. Many of these I still make today!
  • Grandma staying with us and insisting she sleep on the coach because "she did not want to be a burden."
  • Holding Grandma's ankles while she checked the water in the Los Lunas ditch near our house "to see if it was cold."
  • Watching Grandma "light up" as she was talking about square dancing with her friends and Ed.
  • Listening to Grandma get all excited about her "bingo calling" job at the Senior center.
  • Reading through Grandma's stories and poems she has written through the years with my kids. The most recent one my daughter Lizzy shared "Kraft Dinner Anyone?" at her Activity Days meeting on August 11, 2015.
  • Listening to Grandma's voice on cassette talking about Great-Grandpa Thomas Horsley making 21 loaves of bread each week and many others.
  • Looking at all of the photos Grandma has sent me over the years of her flowers in her garden and then in her garden pots outside her apartment.
  • Talking to Grandma about all of the porcelain dolls she has made and gave names to.
  • Having those precious moments on the phone with Grandma the last few months and sharing stories "of the good old days."
  • We will miss your smile and all of your spunk Grandma! We love you!
